Tigers Fall to Rice in American Athletic Conference Championship, 4-2

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis men's tennis team played a fought battle against the 5th-seeded Rice Owls but ultimately fell in the American Athletic Conference Championship 4-2.
Rice came out early with the doubles point taking courts one and two on 7-5 and 7-6 advantages.
Memphis hit right back with court four and five wins from Mortiz Kudnernatsch and Luis Sandoval Carvalho. The Tigers would lead 2-1 in the match until Petro Kuzmenok and Kabeer Kapasi collected wins in the two and six slots.
Harry Rock battled on court three, forcing a third set, but Santiago Navarro laid down the match point for the Owls with a 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 win.
The Tigers will await their fate for a bid into the NCAA Tournament. The selection show will take place on Monday, April 28.
