Minor Selected by New England Patriots with Final Pick of 2025 NFL Draft
Apr 26, 2025 | Football
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis cornerback Kobee Minor was selected with the 41st pick (257th overall) in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots on Saturday afternoon. With his selection, he earns the honor of being named "Mr. Irrelevant" – a title given annually to the final pick of the NFL Draft.
Minor's selection made him the first Tiger drafted since 2022 when former Tigers Dylan Parham (3rd round / 90th overall) and Calvin Austin III (4th round / 138th overall) were both picked. At least one Tiger has been selected in 10 of the past 12 NFL Drafts, with 16 players being taken over that span.
In 2024, Minor totaled 38 tackles, seven tackles-for-loss, two sacks, six pass breakups and a pair of forced fumbles as a key piece of the Tiger defense.
Minor helped the Tigers to an 11-2 record last season as Memphis defeated West Virginia in the Scooter's Coffee Frisco Bowl to cap off back-to-back double-digit win seasons for the first time in program history and secure 11-plus wins for just the second time.
Minor's selection with the final pick of the draft marks the second time a Tiger has been selected as "Mr. Irrelevant". He joins former Memphis safety Lonnie Ballentine, who was taken by the Houston Texans with the final pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.
