Moeller, Mykhailets and Perez Named to American Postseason Awards

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Following an outstanding performance at the American Athletic Conference Championships last weekend, the University of Memphis women's tennis team had multiple names on the postseason awards list with Leonie Moeller named as the Conference Co-Player of the Year, Sofia Mykahilets named to the All-Conference Team and head coach Hayden Perez tabbed as the Coach of the Year.
Moeller, a sophomore out of Nordham, Germany, was tabbed as the American's Co-Player of the Year after going 13-7 in singles competition in the one slot for the Tigers. Moeller, who collected two match point wins for the team during the conference championship and went a perfect 4-0 during the weekend, finished the season ranked No. 105 in individuals.
This is the second postseason honor for Moeller in her career.
Mykhailets, a freshman out of Dnipro, Ukraine, had a breakout rookie season for Memphis after going 13-7, playing mostly in the two slot. Mykhailets played a key role for the Tigers, going 9-2 in individual competition from March 2-April 19.
This is the first postseason award win for Mykhailets.
Perez, who is in his 11th season with the Tigers is the American's Coach of the Year, took the team from 1-10 to 10-13 and the program's second American Conference Championship in the last four years. His team, who swept the competition during last weekend's championship, went on to defeat South Florida, Charlotte, Rice and Tulsa in four consecutive days.
This is the second Coach of the Year award for Perez in his tenure at Memphis.
