Tigers Fall in Second-Round Matchup Against Sixth-Seeded East Carolina

TAMPA, Fla. – Memphis (19-36) softball fell to East Carolina (30-25) by a score of 7-1 in the second round of the American Athletic Conference Tournament Wednesday evening at the USF Softball Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- For the second time in as many games, the Tigers scored in the top of the first inning. A Zoe Adebayo RBI single brought Arianna Cox-Cole home.
- Adebayo also advanced to third due to a fielding error by East Carolina's Emma Jackson.
- In the bottom half of the frame, Jericho Tate stranded two runners in scoring position by striking out Anna Sawyer on a full count.
- Two Memphis baserunners were stranded in the second inning after Kennedy Semien and Ariel Davis reached on singles.
- A third-inning home run off the bat of Emma Jackson tied the game in East Carolina's first at-bat of the inning.
- After the bases were loaded in the following plate appearances, Rylee Dugar entered in relief and induced a flyout to end the inning.
- The Pirates took a two-run lead in the fourth inning on Emma Jackson's second home run of the contest.
- Three runs came across in the bottom of the fifth inning for East Carolina.
- A two-RBI double by Mary-Kathryn Scott extended the Pirates' lead to five.
- The next batter, Kanisha Anderson, singled back up the middle for the third run of the inning.
- A fielder's choice off the bat of Gabby Fowler brought home East Carolina's seventh run of the game.
- In her first season as Memphis' head coach, Trena Prater has led the Tigers to their highest win total since 2019, highest conference win total since 2018 and coached Memphis to its first AAC Tournament win since 2018.
- Rylee Dugar finished her junior season with a 7-12 record after taking the loss.
- Dugar's seven wins are the most by a Memphis pitcher since 2022.
- Jericho Tate went two innings in her start, while Taniyah Brown tossed 1.1 innings in relief.
- Zoe Adebayo went 2-for-3 with an RBI in Memphis' final game of the season.
- In Adebayo's senior season, she recorded top-10 performances in single-season doubles (12), triples (3), home runs (10), RBI (37), total bases (93), on base percentage (.440), slugging percentage (.660) and walks (30).
- Arianna Cox-Cole recorded one hit and one run scored in the loss.
- Cox-Cole's 19 stolen bases are tied for the seventh-most in a season.
- Ariel Davis went 1-for-2 against the Pirates.
- Her 10 sacrifice hits this season are tied for the sixth-most in a single season in program history.
- Kennedy Semien went 1-for-2 at the plate with one walk.
- Semien's 36 runs scored are tied for the sixth-most in a single season by a Tiger.
- Kayla Clement had one hit in the loss.
- Clement ends the season with 52 games played, which is tied for the third-most on the team this season.
