American Athletic Conference Announces 2025 Kickoff Lineup

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis football head coach Ryan Silverfield along with defensive lineman William Whitlow Jr. and quarterback Brendon Lewis will take part in the 2025 American Kickoff event Thursday and Friday, July 24-25 in Charlotte, N.C.
Twenty-eight student-athletes are scheduled to attend this year's kickoff. Media sessions will begin on Thursday afternoon and will continue Friday morning with press conferences for each of the 14 head coaches. In addition to the Friday press conferences, student-athletes and coaches will be available for breakout sessions during specified times on Friday and upon request during their scheduled Thursday-afternoon block.
The results of The American's preseason media poll will be announced, and Commissioner Tim Pernetti will deliver his remarks on Friday morning at 9:15 a.m. CT.
Whitlow Jr. was a 2024 First Team All-AAC selection after helping the Tigers to an 11-2 record and Scooter's Coffee Frisco Bowl championship over West Virginia a season ago. The Millbrook, Alabama, native totaled 24 tackles, seven tackles for loss, four sacks, three quarterback hurries and one forced fumble while starting 12 games and playing in all 13. He was named 2025 Preseason First Team All-AAC on June 11.
Lewis, an experienced quarterback who has spent time as the starter at both Colorado and Nevada, transferred to Memphis after leading the Wolf Pack in total offense last season. Lewis passed for 2,290 yards and added 775 rushing yards as a true dual-threat player in 2024, earning All-Mountain West Honorable Mention honors. He is one of three quarterbacks actively competing for the starting job for the Tigers this season.
The American is inviting fans to participate in the annual event. Fans wishing to attend the event at Charlotte Convention Center can register at THIS LINK.
