Jul 02, 2025 | Softball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis softball head coach Trena Prater has added her fifth signee of the program's transfer class in former UCF Knight, Deana Cunningham.
Cunningham made 30 appearances in her first collegiate season as a senior at UCF.
"From the first time that I spoke to Deana, I knew that she was a good fit for our coaching staff," head coach Trena Prater said. "Then, I watched her play in person in the Tennessee summer league and I knew she was a perfect fit for our team. She is a defensive specialist and is going to make an instant impact on that end. She is hungry for this opportunity, and I cannot wait to see her senior leadership help us to become a championship caliber team."
Cunningham was primarily utilized as a pinch runner and defensive replacement for the Knights during the 2025 season. She logged two starts in the outfield while appearing in 12 games as an outfielder with one appearance at third base. Cunningham appeared in two games for the Knights during the 2025 Austin Regional, entering as a pinch runner against Eastern Illinois and against Texas in the Regional Final.
A native of Pierson, Fla., Cunningham comes to Memphis after earning an Associate of Arts degree from Daytona State College and earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from UCF.
