Aug 19, 2025 | Football
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc., along with presenting sponsor A. O. Smith Corporation announced Tuesday that University of Memphis quarterback Brendon Lewis was named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm preseason watch list.
Now in its 39th year, the Golden Arm Award continues to honor excellence both on and off the field. The award is presented by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation in partnership with A. O. Smith Corporation, whose mission aligns with the Foundation's commitment to advancing the game of football while promoting character, leadership, and academic achievement among young athletes.
This season's list acknowledges 58 of the nation's premier quarterbacks, and Lewis is one of four quarterbacks within The American named to the watch list (Blake Horvath – Navy, Owen McCown – UTSA, Caden Veltkamp – Florida Atlantic).
A 35-game starter, Lewis comes to Memphis after a two-year stint at Nevada where he threw for 2,290 yards with 16 touchdowns while clocking in at 11th in the nation in completion percentage (0.676). The dual threat play-caller also recorded 775 yards on the ground with eight scores of his own.
The redshirt senior out of Melissa, Texas earned a 2024 All-Mountain West Honorable Mention nod while leading the team in total offense (3,065 yards) and rushing.
As the 2025 college football season unfolds, the watch list will be narrowed to semifinalists, finalists and one standout quarterback will take home the Golden Arm Award in December. The winner will be celebrated at our annual Golden Arm Award ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in Johnny Unitas' hometown of Baltimore—an unforgettable night honoring leadership, legacy, and the best in college football.
Memphis football fans can see the Tigers at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in the team's season opener on Saturday, Aug. 30 with single-game tickets starting at just $20. The team's season opener against Chattanooga is the annual "901 Game" with tickets available AT THIS LINK.
New this year, fans are encouraged to purchase early and save. Ticket prices will increase by $5 during game week ($10 for Arkansas) and again by an additional $5 on game day ($10 for Arkansas) at the Box Office. This change helps support enhanced planning for security, concessions, and staffing. Historically, over 90% of single-game tickets are purchased during game week.
Season ticket prices remain unchanged from 2024, following a perfect 7-0 home campaign. With prices averaging under $25 per game, season tickets remain the best value for Tiger fans. Tickets can be purchased online at GoTigersGo.com or by calling the Memphis Ticket Office at (901) 678-2331.
For fans seeking more flexibility, the Memphis Football Mini Plan offers access to three premier matchups — Arkansas, Tulsa, and South Florida — starting at just $85.
