MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis' record-breaking 2014 team will be the "Release the Tigers" honorees presented by Dillard Door & Entrance Control for Saturday's game against Chattanooga at 3:30 p.m. at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.
A team that began their season with low expectations after a 3-9 season in 2013, the Tigers proved the football world wrong with a 10-3 record in route to a conference title and a 55-48 double overtime win over BYU in the inaugural Miami Beach Bowl. Memphis went on to finish the season ranked in the Associated Press' Top 25 for the first time in program history.
The 10-win season was the first double-digit win season for the Tigers since the 1938 season.
Ten Tigers were named to postseason honors for the American Conference while Tank Jones and Jake Elliott were named Defensive Player and Special Teams Player of the Year, respectively, and Justin Fuente was the unanimous decision for Coach of the Year. In addition, six Memphis players went on to be NFL Draft picks that season: Bobby McCain (Miami Dolphins), Martin Ifedi(St. Louis Rams), Paxton Lynch (Denver Broncos), Jake Elliott (Cincinnati Bengals), Anthony Miller (Chicago Bears) and Genard Avery (Cleveland Browns).
Memphis football fans can see the Tigers at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in the team's season opener on Saturday, Aug. 30 with single-game tickets starting at just $20. The team's season opener against Chattanooga is the annual "901 Game" with tickets available AT THIS LINK.
New this year, fans are encouraged to purchase early and save. Ticket prices will increase by $5 during game week ($10 for Arkansas) and again by an additional $5 on game day ($10 for Arkansas) at the Box Office. This change helps support enhanced planning for security, concessions and staffing. Historically, over 90% of single-game tickets are purchased during game week.
Season ticket prices remain unchanged from 2024, following a perfect 7-0 home campaign. With prices averaging under $25 per game, season tickets remain the best value for Tiger fans. Tickets can be purchased online at GoTigersGo.com or by calling the Memphis Ticket Office at (901) 678-2331.
For fans seeking more flexibility, the Memphis Football Mini Plan offers access to three premier matchups — Arkansas, Tulsa, and South Florida — starting at just $85.
