LOUISVILLE, Ky. – 15 members of the 2025 Memphis softball team were named Easton/NFCA All-American Scholar-Athletes, per a release by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Thursday.
"I'm proud of our ladies for being champions in the classroom," said head coach Trena Prater. "I have to give credit to Fraser Speaks, our amazing academic advisor who helps support our girls with balancing academics and athletics. It is great to see that 19 of our athletes received all-academic team honors and that 15 of those 19 are All-American Scholar-Athletes. I put a lot of effort into emphasizing the importance of competing in the classroom and on the field."
Memphis' first season under head coach Trena Prater has seen accomplishments both on the field and in the classroom, as 19 student-athletes were named to the American Conference All-Academic Team on July 30. The Tigers also had strong performances on the field, securing the highest single-season win total since 2019 and the highest American Conference win total since 2018. They also earned their first conference tournament victory since 2018 with a win over UAB.
To be eligible for All-American Scholar-Athlete status through the NFCA, a student-athlete must have attained at least a 3.5 grade-point average during the 2024-25 academic year.
