Moeller Plays Way Into Main Draw at ITA All-American Championships

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis women's tennis player Leonie Moeller has played her way into the Main Draw of the ITA All-American Championships for the second consecutive year.

"Leonie had another great day today," associate head coach Ryan Haymond said. "She played a remarkably tough opponent who plays number one at Princeton. Now, Leonie has advanced to the Main Draw for the second year in a row and proves that she is deserving to be here with all the best players in the country."

Moeller, who is ranked No. 75 in singles, picked up a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win yesterday over Aely Arai of Miami to advance to the round of 32 today. Moeller secured the 6-4 [7-2], 6-4 victory over Alice Ferlito of Princeton to move on to the Main Draw stage of the tournament.

This is the second time in as many years that Moeller has played her way from the qualifying stage to the Main Draw.

Moeller will now compete against Valery Gynina from Florida. A time and court designation will be released later today.
