University of Memphis Athletics

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -Â The University of Memphis athletics department has just been notified by the NCAA that its appeal regarding the six-game withholding period for men's basketball student-athlete Nemanja Popovic has been denied by the NCAA Athletics and Eligibility Subcommittee, which is composed of representatives from the NCAA membership.
As a result of the ruling, Popovic will serve a six-game withholding period beginning with tonight's season opener against Iowa State.
While we are disappointed in the decision, we appreciate the work of our Memphis compliance staff, whose efforts helped secure two seasons of eligibility for Popovic.
*Attached above is a chart that breaks down the 'Delayed Enrollment Withholding Periods'.
