Memphis, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's tennis team battled hard in a 4-2 loss to Arkansas State at the Leftwich Tennis Center on Sunday.

The Tigers played close doubles matches at lines one and two with Sofiia Mykhailets/Emma Dvorackova and Natalia Koppova/Alicia Mall both falling 4-6 in their matches. Clemence Thouard/Rebecca Frant were leading 5-4 before their match was left unfinished as the Red Wolves clinched the doubles point.

Memphis picked up two wins in singles. First, Sofiia Mykhailets claimed a dominant win on court one, 6-1, 6-0 to even the score at 1-1. Next, freshman Natalia Koppova improved her singles record to 3-0 on the season with a 6-3, 6-4 win on court three and put the Tigers up 2-1. Arkansas State would take the next three matches on courts six, five and two to claim a 4-2 win overall.

Memphis falls to 0-4 and will be back in action Feb. 12 at Wake Forest. First serve is set for 4 p.m. in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
