Tigers Finish Sixth at GARC Championships

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The No. 11-ranked University of Memphis rifle team placed sixth at the Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) Championships on Sunday in West Point, N.Y. The team finished with a 2333 smallbore total on Saturday, before posting a 2375 in air rifle Sunday for an aggregate score of 4708.
No. 4 West Virginia won the conference title with an aggregate of 4740, while No. 1 Kentucky took second with a score of 4730 and No. 7 Navy finished third (4729).
The Tigers' 2375 in air rifle was the fourth-best total of the championships as Memphis produced 191 centers in air rifle alone, demonstrating consistency across the lineup.
Emmet Bodrogi led the way with a 596 in air rifle, finishing ninth overall (out of 56) in the discipline while adding 54 centers. He finished with an 1182 aggregate (586 smallbore / 596 air rifle), pacing the Tigers on the combined leaderboard.
Katrina Demerle added a 594 in air rifle to go with a 585 smallbore for a 1179 aggregate, while Megan Jaros posted a 589 in both disciplines to total 1178. Gabriela Zych (585/591 – 1176) and Kenlee Ewton (577/594 – 1171) rounded out Memphis' counting scores.
Megan Jaros delivered Memphis' top smallbore mark of the weekend with a 589, finishing 10th individually. Bodrogi followed closely with a 586, while Demerle and Zych each recorded 585s.
