Memphis Sets Attendance Record in Midweek Loss to No. 6/4 Oklahoma

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis (7-20, 0-6 American) softball team fell by a 15-0 run-rule to No. 6/4 Oklahoma (29-2, 3-0 SEC) in a game where the Tigers set a new single-game attendance record of 551.
The Tigers fell in the game but created an atmosphere that more than doubled the highest attendance from a previous game this season of 238.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Memphis continues action at home with an American Conference series against East Carolina (20-10, 4-2 American) with start times scheduled for 5 p.m., 2 p.m. and noon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Free passes led to early trouble for the Tigers issued two walks, committed an error and threw two wild pitches, allowing Oklahoma to score twice in the opening frame.
- A home run and another wild pitch led to two more runs for the Sooners in the second.
- Kennedy Semien picked up Memphis' first hit of the contest, but she and Neely Taylor were stranded on base in the inning.
- Taylor reached on a one-out walk.
- An error and passed ball allowed Oklahoma to extend its lead to four before back-to-back home runs by the Sooners' Kendall Wells and Allyssa Parker opened the game up to a nine-run deficit for Memphis.
- Consecutive singles by the top of Oklahoma's lineup brought two runs in in the fourth inning.
- Jasmine Mack roped a one-out triple past the diving reach of Oklahoma's Kasidi Pickering, but was stranded as the next two batters grounded out and flew out.
- The triple was Memphis' ninth of the 2026 campaign.
- Oklahoma's second three-run home run of the game and an RBI double gave them a lead of 15 runs that held as Memphis went down in four batters to end the game.
- The last time Memphis faced a top 10 team was during the 2022 season when the Tigers had contests against then No. 8/9 Arkansas and No. 10 Oklahoma State.
- Memphis' recorded attendance of 551 surpassed the highest total of the season and the program record, previously set at an unofficial number of 537 in a non-ticketed game against Mississippi State in 2019.
- Jasmine Mack went 1-for-2 with a triple in the loss.
- It marked Memphis' ninth of the season and now eight different Tigers have a triple on the year.
- As it stands, Memphis would be tied for 25th in the country and second in the American with nine triples.
- Kennedy Semien was also 1-for-2 at the plate, recording Memphis' first hit of the game.
- She now moves into sole possession of second place on the team with 19 hits.
- Taylor Caton picked up two strikeouts in 1.2 innings of relief.
- Caton again entered as a relief pitcher after starting the game in the lineup at second base.
- She also moves into second on the team in strikeouts with 15 in just 19.1 innings pitched.
- Fellow freshman Avery Stutts logged one strikeout in two innings of work.
- She now has a team-leading 20 strikeouts.
