Smith Named to American Conference Weekly Honorable Mentions

IRVING, Texas -- Memphis forward Tamya Smith was named to the American Conference's final weekly edition of the Honorable Mention list, the league office announced on Sunday.
Smith strung together back-to-back strong performances against UAB and Wichita State, including a career-high 11 rebounds and her second-ever double-double against the Blazers on March 4. Her weekly averages were 19.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocks on 48.3% shooting and 88.9% accuracy at the free throw line.
The Birmingham native finished her sophomore campaign averaging 12.1 points and 5.5 rebounds, including 16.2 and 6.7 in the final six games of the season. In conference play, she ranked fifth in blocks per game (1.3) and 15th in steals (1.6), one of two players to rank in the top 15 in both categories (Kennedy Fauntleroy, East Carolina).
