Apr 13, 2026 | Softball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis softball team returns home for the first game of a four-game homestand, facing off against the Lady Braves of Alcorn State on Tuesday.
The game is set for a 4 p.m. start with Tyler Springs on the call for ESPN+.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis (14-30, 3-15 American) is looking to move on from a weekend at Charlotte where the Tigers stranded the game-winning run on two occasions.
Faith Brown continues her breakout season by etching her name into sections of the Tigers' record book. While batting a team-best .376, Brown is now the second Tiger since 2020 to have at least 30 RBI and her seven home runs are tied for ninth-most in a season. She also leads Memphis in doubles (9) and is a perfect 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts. Ariel Davis also continues to be a consistent piece around Brown in the lineup with team-highs in hits (45), runs (28) and walks (17) and is currently on a five-game hitting streak.
Avery Stutts has been Memphis' most utilized arm this season, making a team-high 28 appearances totaling 85.2 innings and most recently reaching 40 strikeouts over the weekend. The Tigers have seen a pair of arms work back into the rotation in Taniyah Brown and Rylee Dugar, with the latter making her 100th career pitching appearance against Charlotte. Five Memphis pitchers have pitched at least 30 innings and freshman Taylor Caton has worked her way into a consistent role with 33 strikeouts over 46.1 innings.
SCOUTING THE LADY BRAVES
Alcorn State (13-26, 1-14 SWAC) is also coming off being swept, with the Lady Braves falling to Texas Southern. On the season, Alcorn State is 6-3 against non-Division I opponents.
The Lady Braves are led by Yahnya Acevedo (.336 AVG), who leads Alcorn Stats in hits (38), doubles (9), home runs (3), RBI (22) and stolen bases (16). She and Mariah Morgan (.232 AVG) are the only Lady Braves with at least 20 RBI, while the pair are two of five players with three home runs, the top mark on the team.
Chiara Olison and Alainah Felton lead Alcorn State's staff, with Olison's seven wins and 104.2 innings pitched being team highs while Felton carries team-bests in ERA (4.85) and strikeouts (36).
