Memphis Looks Ahead to Conference Series at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The University of Memphis softball team travels east to the Tar Heel State for a three-game series against the Charlotte 49ers.
Game times will be 5 p.m., noon and 11 a.m. central on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis (14-27, 3-12 American) is looking to build off a pair of midweek wins, combining to score 20 runs against Alabama A&M.
Faith Brown continued her hot streak with five RBI in Tuesday's doubleheader, currently leading the team with 27 while also carrying Memphis' best batting average of .388. Her nine doubles are also tied with Ariel Davis for the team lead, with Davis leading Memphis in runs (27), hits (42), triples (two), home runs (six) and walks (16). Jasmine Mack (.310 AVG) became the third Tiger to reach 20 RBI on the season after the doubleheader, hitting her fifth home run of the season, a mark that is tied for second-most on the team.
Avery Stutts and Mya Clark each picked up a win during the doubleheader, with Stutts' being a five-inning complete game where she struck out a career-high six batters. She also still stands as Memphis' innings (80.2) and strikeouts (38) leader. Clark tossed four innings of relief with a career-high four strikeouts in the opening game of the doubleheader, moving her record to 3-3 on the season. Rylee Dugar returned to make her 99th career pitching appearance and 58th career start in the doubleheader, tossing three scoreless innings.

Alabama A&M (22-19, 7-8 American) is coming off a midweek loss to UNC Greensboro after dropping a conference series to in-state opponent, East Carolina.
Reigning American Conference Player of the Year Jenna Lord has led Charlotte with a team-best .429 batting average this season, also leading the 49ers in doubles (12) and sitting tied for second in home runs with eight. Charlotte's current home run leader is Teagan Ritchie, who has 10 while hitting .256, the team's lowest batting average among qualified hitters. South Carolina transfer Audrey Wilson has eight doubles and home runs on the season while leading the team with 39 RBI.
While Aubrey Yarnall carries a team-best 3.52 ERA, Taylor Jones has seen the most innings on the staff with 97, while Brooke Bowling is the team's wins leader with eight over 74 innings. Jones, a second successful pitching transfer from Queens (NC) to the American, has a 3.90 ERA with seven complete games, holding opponents to a .273 batting average. Bowling, also Charlotte's leader in appearances (24), has struck out a team-high 59 batters.
SERIES HISTORY VS. CHARLOTTE
Memphis and Charlotte do not have an extensive history, with the 49ers only joining the American in 2024, but Memphis is winless in six games over the last two seasons.
Last season, Memphis was swept at home, including a run-rule loss and a shutout.
