MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis men's golf head coach Blake Smart announced Wednesday the addition of transfer Luke Stennett to the Tigers' 2026-27 roster.
"Luke brings a solid resume and high-level experience to our lineup, highlighted by three collegiate wins under his belt," Smart said. "He will be a great addition to our squad with the potential for a breakout season nationally."
Stennett comes to Memphis as a junior after spending the last two seasons at Rhode Island, where he captured three individual tournament titles. During his sophomore campaign, the Portland, Connecticut, native competed in 12 tournaments and posted a team-best 72.5 stroke average. His season was highlighted by a career-low round of 64 at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate and a pair of Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors after winning back-to-back tournament titles in September.
Stennett put together a decorated freshman season in 2024-25, earning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year honors and an All-Conference Team selection. He racked up seven top-10 finishes that year, including his first collegiate victory at the Rutherford Intercollegiate where he topped a 69-player field.
Prior to his collegiate career, Stennett prepped at Portland High School, where he became the first player in Connecticut history to win four individual state championships. He also guided his high school squad to three team state titles and wrapped up his junior career ranked as the No. 1 player in Connecticut.
