"Emily has always been a coach on the course for us," Jordan said. "Her transition to this role ensures our players will benefit from the same work ethic and strategic mind that made her a leader during her playing days. She played for me for four years and wants to see this program prevail as much as I do. It is my absolute pleasure to have her by my side to help lead us into the future."
Wilson steps into the coaching ranks after a four-year playing career with the Tigers, during which she competed in 34 tournaments and logged 94 rounds of competition. The Brentwood, Tennessee, native recorded seven top-20 finishes during her career, highlighted by a career-best seventh-place finish at the Payne Stewart Memorial this past fall.
Wilson also etched her name into the Memphis record books, twice carding a career-low 69 to tie for the 28th-lowest individual round in program history. She first accomplished the feat at the 2023 Little Rock Golf Classic and repeated it at the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate during her senior campaign.
Additionally, Wilson turned in two even- or under-par tournament scores during her senior season, finishing 1-under par at the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate and even par at the Lady Red Wolves Classic. She carried a 75.7 career stroke average, which she dropped to a career-best 74.6 during her final year of competition.
"After competing the last four years as a Memphis Tiger, I am grateful for the opportunity to begin my coaching career as an assistant coach where it all started," Wilson said. "The university helped me grow so much as both an athlete and a person, so it only felt right to stay and help build this team alongside Coach Jordan. I am thrilled to mentor and lead this incredible program."Wilson graduated this past May from the College of Arts and Sciences with a bachelor of science in psychology.
