COLUMBUS, Ohio. – The No. 23 Memphis women's soccer team fell 3-1 to No. 8 Ohio State on Sunday night at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

The Buckeyes (4-0-1) scored twice in the opening half before adding a third in the 69th minute. Memphis (2-3-1) pulled one back late through Mihiro Furuya, who netted her first goal of the season and third of her career off an Ally Casey cross.

The Tigers finished with 13 shots, placing seven on goal, while Ohio State recorded 19 attempts with seven on target. Abby Forsgren led Memphis with three shots, putting all three on frame.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Ohio State opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Elle Britt capitalized off a corner kick to give the Buckeyes an early 1-0 advantage.
The Buckeyes doubled their lead just before halftime. Callie Tumilty sent a cross into the box for Amanda Schlueter, who slotted it home in the 41st minute.
Ohio State extended its advantage to 3-0 in the 69th minute when Schlueter found Britt, who finished for her second goal of the match.
Memphis got on the board in the 79th minute. Casey delivered a cross into the box, where Furuya sent it over the goal line to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Memphis continued to push after its goal, but could not breakthrough in the final 10 minutes.
The Tigers put seven of their 13 shots on target, forcing Ohio State goalkeeper Peighton Northrup into six saves.

NOTABLES

Furuya's 79th-minute goal was her first of the season and third of her career. She finished with two shots in 31 minutes of action.
Casey picked up her first assist of the season and second of her career.
Forsgren led the Tigers with three shots, putting all three on target. The freshman has now totaled nine shots and seven shots on goal over her last three matches.
Ava Galani, Ava Gaida, Yuna Nagata, Evelyn Mackay, Ally Casey, Natalie Dvorakova and Maira Boosman each played the full 90 minutes.
- Dvorakova and Boosman played the full 90 minutes for the first time in their collegiate careers.
Freshman Miyu Morota played a career-high 33 minutes.
Neko Michell, Natalie Dvorakova and Grayson Williams each made the first starts of their collegiate careers.
Galani made four saves in goal for Memphis.
Memphis finished with 13 shots and seven shots on goal, while Ohio State recorded 19 shots with seven on target.
