Nic Higgins joined the University of Memphis Strength & Conditioning staff in May 2021 as Director of Athletic Performance, Olympic Sports. He was promoted to the title of Assistant Athletic Director of Athletic Performance in April 2025.
He joined Memphis after serving at the University of Washington as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for four years working within the Olympic Strength and Conditioning department with softball, track and field, and men's rowing. Prior to he worked at DePaul University as assistant director of performance for over two years in the athletic performance department with track and field, women's soccer and men's golf. He began his career at the University of Texas as a part-time assisting with both Olympic sports and football for 2.5 years. Higgins served as an intern during his undergraduate degree assisting at the University of Minnesota and University of Wisconsin-La Crosse
Higgins earned a Master’s of Science in Exercise and Science and Health Promotion with a concentration in Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention from California University of Pennsylvania in 2013. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2012. During his time as an undergraduate he served as an intern at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and University of Minnesota.

Higgins is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association and is CPR/AED certified.
Higgins and his wife Lindsay live in East Memphis and enjoy exploring the city and traveling the world.Â
