Baton Rouge, LA - The University of Memphis Lady Tiger golf team turned in a team score of 297 to go with their opening round score of 299 and are in 11th place at the NCAA East Regional in Baton Rouge, LA. The Lady Tigers enter Saturday's final round of competition needing to climb into eighth place to make the NCAA championships which are May 21-24 and are being hosted by the University of Washington.
Duke University holds the team lead with a score of 571. The Lady Blue Devils over took first round leader the University of Florida Lady Gators, who are in second place at 576. Auburn is in third with a score of 580, while Wake Forest is fourth at 581 and South Florida is fifth with a 585.
Leigh Anne Hardin of Duke , holds the lead for medalist honors with a 36-hole score of 138. Hardin fired a five under par 67 on Friday to jump into the lead. Memphis's Meaghan Francella, who earned an individual invitation to the NCAA Finals last season, moved up to fifth place with a one under par 71 on Friday to go with her two under 70 in the opening round of play. Lady Tiger sophomore Jennifer Jaszek is tied for 36th at 149, while Marianne Ruud is tied for 46 at 150. Jaszek carded a 75 on Friday, while Ruud turned in a score of 76.
Final round play is slated for Saturday morning.
