MEMPHIS, Tenn. The University of Memphis men's golf team opened the fall portion of the 2007-08 season today at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, Calif. The Tigers are in 12th place out of 18 teams after the first round of play. Ian Rochester is tied for 20th with a first round score of 74.
Rochester opened his round with a 39 on the front but finished the day two over with a 35 on the back half of the course. Robbie Greenwell and Jordan Payne each shot a 76, Kyle Richie posted a 79, and Brad Benjamin shot an 80 to round out the Tigers first round score of 305.
Memphis tallied 11 birdies during the round. Benjamin recorded the Tigers' only eagle.
