Memphis Faces Baylor in First NCAA Appearance on Friday

STARKVILLE, Miss.- The 31st-ranked Memphis Tigers will play in the program's first NCAA Men's Tennis Championship match against 25th-ranked Baylor on Friday. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. (CT) at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre on the campus of Mississippi State.
Memphis (19-5) posted its highest winning percentage, .792, since 1979 and earned runner-up finishes during both the Conference USA regular season and the championship tournament, its best finish in both instances. The Tigers have played 12 matches against ranked opponents this season, amassing a 7-5 record along the way.
David Henry and Connor Glennon (13-5) are ranked No. 74 in doubles and are the only Tigers currently in the ITA polls. Throughout the course of the season, Glennon, David O'Hare and David O'Leary also made appearances in the singles rankings and O'Hare and Joe Salisbury were ranked in doubles.
Baylor enters the match with a 17-11 record, including 8-11 against ranked opponents. The Bears' Mate Zsiga (17) and Roberto Maytin (86) are ranked in the ITA singles poll. Maytin appears in the doubles rankings twice, first with Kike Grangeiro at No. 45 and with Zsiga at No. 71.
The winner of the Memphis/Baylor match will player the winner of the Mississippi State/Alcorn State match on Saturday at 2 p.m. (CT) with a trip to Athens, Ga., on the line.
