Memphis Ends Regular Season as No. 7 Seed
Oct 25, 2015 | Women's Soccer
The Tigers lost to East Carolina in finale
Following a 3-0 loss to East Carolina to close out the regular season, Memphis will be the No. 7 seed in next week's American Athletic Conference Tournament to be played in Dallas, Texas. The Tigers will face the No. 2 seed USF, Tuesday, November 3 at 4:30 p.m.
Â
East Carolina was in need of a result to clench a spot in the league tournament, while Memphis had already locked up its tournament spot in the win over Cincinnati.
Â
The Pirates came out firing and grabbed the lead in the 14th minute on the first of two goals by Kendall Frey. The senior forward doubled the ECU lead in the 70th minute. As Memphis pushed forward in search of a goal, ECU scored a third in the 82nd minute to put the game away.
Â
Memphis forced five saves out of the ECU goalkeeper Saundra Baron, who was able to record her conference-leading ninth shutout of the season.
Â
The Tigers, who have been up and down all season, played well against USF in their meeting earlier this season, recording a 2-2 double-overtime draw. The Bulls lost to their rival UCF in the regular-season finale.Â
