Tigers Travel to Begin Arkansas Series

Memphis renews a series with Arkansas with a pair of midweek games at Minor League Baseball stadiums. The two teams will meet at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock Tuesday for a 6:30 p.m. game before playing Wednesday at AutoZone Park in downtown Memphis.
Tickets for Wednesday's 5:30 p.m. game at AutoZone Park are $10 and can be purchased online at gotigersgotix.com as well as by calling (901) 678-2331. Fans can also purchase AutoZone Park 3 Packs, which also includes tickets to games against Ole Miss (March 31) and Mississippi State (April 7) for $25.
Arkansas and Memphis last played a midweek series at the same two ballparks in 2011. Arkansas leads its series with Memphis, 10-2-1. The Tigers will be looking for their first win in the series since the 1993 season.
Heading into this year's games Arkansas is 11-11. Memphis is 14-4 and goes into the series with a 10-game winning streak, the longest by the Tigers since 1994.
Memphis senior first baseman is coming off a week in which he hit .400, bashed out a grand slam and drove in nine total runs in a 5-0 week. He was named to the American Athletic Conference's Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. For the year, Tubbs is hitting .344 with 20 RBI. He has eight doubles and three home runs on the year.
Led by third baseman Zach Schritenthal's .392 batting average and a .386 hitting clip by outfielder Kane Barrow, Memphis has a .300 team batting average.
Memphis left-handed senior Alex Gunn will make his third start for the Tigers. Gunn missed the 2014 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He is 2-0 this season, pitching 12 scoreless innings. He has struck out 11 including a career-high seven batters in last week's win over Arkansas State.
Arkansas is expected to start right-hander Jackson Lowery Tuesday in North Little Rock.
Lowery, a senior from Little Rock, has appeared in six games, making one start. He has a 1-0 record with a 4.40 earned run average. In 14.1 innings of work, Lowery has struck out six and walked six.
Arkansas junior infielder Bobby Wernes leads the Razorbacks with a .342 batting average. Sophomore outfielder Andrew Benintendi is hitting .316 and leads the Hogs with 20 RBI. He has hit five doubles and five home runs.
