How It Happened
Memphis jumped out to a quick 4-0 start on back-to-back baskets by Breigha Wilder-Cochran and Cheyenne Creighton. The two squads then went back and forth throughout the first before Nevada produced a 6-2 run in the closing minutes of the quarter to take a three-point lead, 17-14.
Â
The Tigers found themselves down as many as seven in the second quarter after Nevada surged for a 10-4 run. Three baskets by Brianna Porter followed up by lay-up and a three-pointer from Taylor Williams with 1:56 left in the second put Memphis ahead for the first time since there was 3:53 remaining in the first.
Â
Foul trouble early in the third quarter plagued the Tigers. With the help of the free-throw line and cold shooting from Memphis, Nevada built up a lead of 10 with 2:59 left in the third. Brea Elmore scored six straight points for Memphis to bring the score within five, but another run by the Wolf Pack put Memphis down 10 with 10 minutes remaining.
Â
Memphis rallied in the fourth to tie up the game with 1:17 on the clock, but a three-pointer by Nevada immediately after Williams' game-tying jumper combined with four free throws put the game out of reach.
