Tigers Welcome Little Rock For Victor Day

Memphis looks to improve to .500 this season with home game vs. Little Rock
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's basketball team stays at home this weekend as it hosts the Trojans of Little Rock Sunday afternoon. Tip-off on Victor Day is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse.

Memphis this season is 2-1 at home and senior guard Taylor Williams is leading the Tigers at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse. Williams has had performances of 17 points, 18 points, and 16 points at home this season to lead Memphis with 17.0 points per game.

The Tigers spend six out of the next seven games at home with its only road trip a short bus ride to Southern Illinois on Dec. 11. Opponents in that span are Little Rock, Southeast Missouri, Louisiana Tech, Nicholls State, Vanderbilt, and American Athletic Conference foe Temple.

Head coach Melissa McFerrin has led her Memphis teams to a 90-45 record at home in the last nine seasons.

A Look At The Tigers
Through seven games this season, Memphis owns a 3-4 overall record. The Tigers started the season with a 2-1 mark with wins against Missouri State and Illinois, but dropped three-straight to Kansas, Arkansas, and Nevada.

Cheyenne Creighton continues to lead Memphis in scoring with 14.4 points per game. She has recorded double-figures in every game this season with a season-high 16 points scored against Missouri State and Kansas.

Memphis has recorded 30 steals in the last two games (15 in each game) which is just one off the total recorded through the first four games. Memphis is also forcing 22.7 turnovers per game in the last three games.

A Look At Little Rock
Little Rock comes into the Sunday game with a 4-4 record under the direction of head coach Joe Foley. The Trojans have played some rather stiff competition this season in Oklahoma and Texas A&M.

Sharde' Collins and Kaitlyn Pratt lead the way offensively for Little Rock. Collins is averaging 13.1 points per game while Pratt is contributing 12.9 points and a team-high 7.8 rebounds per contest.

Traditionally, the Trojans have a solid basketball program. In Foley's tenure, Little Rock is 268-148 overall with three Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year awards to his name. Last year, Little Rock started with a 2-7 non-conference record before rattling off 15-straight wins to earn the No. 2 seed in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. Little Rock then earned a berth into the WNIT and finished with 20 wins for the ninth time in 10 seasons.
