Men’s Golf Sits In Tenth At East Bay Deli Classic

Rodi Vlasveld cards six-over 78 to pace Tigers
Kiawah Island, S.C. – The Memphis Tigers sit in 10th place after turning in a first-round 319 in gusty conditions at Turtle Point Golf Course in Kiawah Island, S.C. Sunday.
Only one school, No. 26 ranked Tennessee, carded under a 300 in the opening round of the East Bay Deli Classic with a 298. Memphis is currently just 10 strokes out of third place and seven strokes out of the top five. Rutgers and Chattanooga round out the top three.
Six golfers from each team competed toward the team score and Memphis' counting four were Rodi Vlasveld, Chase Harris, Jordan Even, and Borja Martin. Vlasveld's round of 78 was highlighted with three birdies and he currently sits in a tie for 25th place overall.
Harris and Even each carded a 79 for the Tigers while Martin turned in an 83. Nick Giles and Brad Bawden finished with an 85 and an 87 in the tough conditions.
Art Griffin of the host school Charleston Southern and Adam Gray of Rutgers each carded an even-par 72 to pace the tournament field.
