Women’s Soccer Travels To Orlando For AAC Tournament

Tigers set for rematch against UConn in the first-round Wednesday evening
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's soccer team heads to Orlando, Fla. to begin the American Athletic Conference Tournament beginning Wednesday with a first-round match against No. 5-seeded UConn. The match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. CT and is held at the UCF Soccer Complex.

The Tigers finished the regular season with a 10-5-3 overall record and 4-2-3 mark in conference play, earning them the No. 4 seed in the AAC Tournament. The 10-win season gives head coach Brooks Monaghan his 12th season with at least 10 wins.
On Tuesday, the American Athletic Conference announced its all-conference teams. Memphis finished second only to UCF in total selections, led by Elizabeth Woerner and Marie Levasseur on the first-team. Additional picks for the Tigers were Olivia Gauthier and Jessica Lisi on the second-team and Clarissa Larisey and Elizabeth Moberg on the All-Rookie Team.
This is the second-straight First-Team All-Conference recognition for Levasseur and the first-ever AAC nod for Woerner. This is the third-time Gauthier has been recognized by the AAC after earning a Second-Team All-AAC selection in 2016 and an All-Rookie Team pick in 2015. Lisi was named to the All-Rookie Team last year.
Last Time Out Against UConn
In the fifth-ever meeting between the two squads, Memphis came away with a 3-2 victory. The all-time series against the Huskies is even at 2-2-1.
A Look At UConn
UConn wrapped up its regular season with a 3-2 victory over Temple. The win sends the Huskies into the tournament with a 7-8-3 record and a 5-4-0 conference finish. Vivien Beil scored twice in the match, moving her into a tie with Kess Elmore for team-high in goals for the season at five.
Having finished coaching his 37th regular season, UConn head coach Len Tsantiris comes into the AAC Tournament as the defending conference tournament champions. The team from last year finished 8-0-1 conference record during the regular season before going on to win the tournament as well.
