Softball To Compete At FAU Tournament

The Tigers will play in four games this weekend
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The final road non-conference tournament is on the horizon for the University of Memphis softball team this weekend. The Tigers head to sunny Florida for the FAU Tournament with games against Arkansas, Kentucky, and FAU over the course of Saturday and Sunday.  Â

Quick Hitters
- This is the third of six non-conference tournaments for Memphis this season. This is the final road non-conference tournament.
- Memphis is 4-3 overall after going 1-1 at the DeMarini Desert Classic. The Tigers were scheduled to play in five games but weather put a damper on the tournament and Memphis only played on Friday.
- Sophomore catcher Regan Hadley was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll after going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.
- Lindsay Crowdus picked up three hits this weekend and extended her hitting streak to nine games total (ended the 2016 season with a two-game streak).
- Memphis has already stolen 14 bases this season, well on pace surpass last year's total of 89.
- Lindsay Crowdus leads the Tigers with a .667 batting average and three triples. Molly Smith has a team-low 0.79 ERA in 17.2 innings pitched.
- Memphis returns all but one of its starters from the 2016 season. Lindsay Crowdus, Lindsey Stickrod, and Kyler Trosclair return as the top three hitters from last year.
- Memphis was picked to finish fifth in the American Athletic Conference standings as voted on by the conference's head coaches.
- Head coach Natalie Poole is in her sixth season at the helm of the Tiger program.
A Look At The Competition
- Arkansas has a perfect 7-0 record coming into the FAU Tournament. The Razorbacks are led offensively by Nicole Schroeder with 11 hits, six home runs, and 18 RBI.
- The Razorbacks maintain a team batting average of .376 with a team ERA of 1.44.
- Grace Moll has seen the majority of the time in the circle for Arkansas. She has struck out 24 this season.
- Arkansas holds a 2-1 advantage all-time against Memphis. The last meeting was in 2014.
- Kentucky comes into the weekend with a 5-4 overall record with wins against Florida A&M, UCF, UC-Davis, and No. 5 UCLA.
- Katie Reed leads the Wildcats with 12 hits and a .343 batting average. She along with six other Wildcats have started in every game this season.
- Memphis owns a 1-0 edge over Kentucky all-time, playing against the Wildcats in 2011.
- Florida Atlantic, the host school this weekend, carries an 8-2 overall record through the first two weekends. Eight members of the Owls squad are hitting over .300 with Sami Williams leading the way with a .600 average. Emily Lochten leads the team in hits with 11 and home runs with four.
- The Owls pitching staff is led by Kylee Hanson who owns a 4-0 record with 28.0 innings in the circle.
- This is the first time in school history that the Tigers and the Owls will face off against each other.
