Florida Road Trip Ahead For Women’s Soccer

Tigers will take on USF and UCF this weekend; American Digital Network broadcasting USF match
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's soccer team opened up conference play with a win and a draw this past weekend and will now hit the road for a two-match swing at USF and No. 13 UCF this week. The Tigers will take on USF Thursday evening at 6 p.m. CT in a match broadcasted by the American Digital Network. Sunday's contest at UCF will kick-off at 12 p.m. CT.

Five Things To Know About Memphis
A Look at the Bulls
USF will enter its bout with Memphis after suffering a 1-0 loss at Cincinnati Sunday afternoon. Head coach Denise Schilte-Brown has led the Bulls to a 5-3 overall record and 1-1 mark in American Athletic Conference play. USF's match against Cincinnati was the first time in 2017 that the Bulls were shutout.
Leading the team in scoring is sophomore forward Evelyne Viens, with five goals on the season. Viens along with midfielder Andrea Hauksdottir were named to the AAC Preseason All-Conference Team.
The match against Memphis will be the first time the Bulls have played in front of their home fans since August 27th, when they hosted No. 4 North Carolina. USF has a current home record of 2-1, defeating Charlotte and American University while dropping their match against North Carolina.
The Bulls were picked to finish fourth in the AAC Preseason Coaches' Poll behind Memphis, SMU, and Cincinnati.
A Look at the Knights
No. 13 UCF is coming off of a 4-0 road win at ECU. Two players each scored two goals in the victory in Kayla Adamek and Dina Orschmann. UCF now stands 5-1-1 on the season after picking up its first conference win. The Knights were picked to finish sixth in the AAC Preseason Poll.
Orschmann leads the team in goals with four and assists with two. UCF splits time between two goalkeepers, as Vera Varis and Chloe N'gazi have both spent more than 250 minutes apiece in the net. Varis was tabbed as the AAC Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year.
Before facing the Tigers, the Knights will play Tulsa at home. The match against Tulsa will be the first regular season home match since defeating No. 4 North Carolina on Aug. 25. The Knights are 1-1 against top-five ranked teams, falling to No. 4 South Carolina in the season opener.

- The Tigers opened up conference play with a draw with SMU and an overtime victory over Houston. Memphis is 7-3-1 overall and has maintained its position at No. 33 in the latest RPI.
- The Tigers were picked to finish first the American Athletic Conference this season. Three Tigers were selected to the preseason all-conference team in Olivia Gauthier, Marie Levasseur, and Jessica Lisi. Levasseur and Lisi account for a combined nine of Memphis' 30 goals scored this year.
- Memphis' high-powered offense ranks eighth in the NCAA with 2.73 goals per match. Elizabeth Woerner leads the Memphis squad with eight goals this season and is individually ranked 11th in the NCAA. Woerner is one goal shy of matching her freshman and sophomore goal totals combined.
- Rachel Ashworth Shepard finished the match against SMU with a career-high 14 saves. She was one off matching the program record of 15 set by Frances Currin in 1999. As a result, she was named the AAC Goalkeeper of the Week while Mikayla Morton was tabbed to the Weekly Honor Roll after scoring a goal and tallying two assists.
- Head coach Brooks Monaghan has won 98 conference matches in his coaching career at Memphis. Monaghan currently has an overall record of 208-123-26.
