Henderson Named a Semifinalist for Maxwell Award

Tiger running back one of 20 candidates for player of the year award
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis junior running back Darrell Henderson has been named one of 20 semifinalists for the 82nd Maxwell Award, the Maxwell Football Club announced Monday.
The Maxwell Award, which is part of the National College Football Awards Association, honors the collegiate player of the year.
Henderson is the nation's most explosive back, with an FBS-best 10.07 yards per carry. He is one of four RB in the FBS with over 1,000 rushing yards this season.
The Batesville, Miss., product is second in the nation with 1,148 rushing yards and 143.5 yards per game. He has rushed for over 100 yards in 10 of his last 13 games dating back to last season.
Henderson's 2,784 career rushing yards rank second all-time in program history and his 27 career rushing TD are tied for third all-time.
Henderson is joined by two other players from the American Athletic Conference – Houston QB D'Eriq King and UCF QB McKenzie Milton.
The winner of the 82nd Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show presented by Gildan, which will be broadcast live on ESPN on Dec. 6, 2018. The formal presentation of the award will be made at the Maxwell Football Club's Awards Dinner on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Tropicana Casino & Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
