Softball Hits the Road for Conference Series Against Tulsa

Weekend series opens Friday at 1 p.m.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The UofM softball team takes its three-game winning streak to Tulsa, Oklahoma to face the Golden Hurricane for a three game series this weekend. First pitch on Friday is slated for 1 p.m. at Collins Family Softball Complex.

Memphis heads to Tulsa riding a three-game winning streak that has featured three run-rule wins for the Tigers. A pair of series-clinching wins over ECU ended 8-0 and 9-1 last weekend before the midweek win over Murray State ended 8-0.
The Tigers enjoyed a six–run fourth inning to break open the win over the Racers. Eight different players crossed home in the game, while a trio of Tigers had multiple RBI. Gracie Morton, Baylee Smith and Ryleigh Aungst each drove in a pair of scores.
Karli Perque tossed her first-career complete game shutout, striking out three on her way to her fifth win of the season.
Offensively, Memphis has five batters that hit above .300, paced by Baylee Smith's .400 batting average. The sophomore has pieced together a five-game streak of recording a hit and scoring a run, including a career-high four-run effort against ECU last weekend.
Aungst, just a freshman, holds a .339 batting average, connecting on four doubles and four home runs. She also has a multi-game hit streak, reaching four games with a hit.
As a team, the Tigers hit .273, putting together 40 doubles, 10 triples and 19 home runs.
In the circle, Memphis holds an ERA of 2.83, striking out 159. Adding a pair of shutouts in the last week, Memphis pitchers have put together six clean pitching ledgers this season. Three pitchers have logged over 50.0 innings of work, led by Mariah Nichols' 83.2. Bayleigh Wisher has 57.2 innings with 35 strikeouts and Perque has tossed 54.1 innings and struck out 53.

Julia Hollingsworth leads the way in the batters box, connecting on hits at a .444 clip. The Golden Hurricane have three hitters batting over .340, with Josie Muffley hitting .381 and Morgan Neal at .344. Tulsa has connected on 41 doubles, led by Neal's 11.
The pitching corps for Tulsa carries an ERA of 3.01, led by Chenise Delce's 1.44 ERA in 73.0 innings. Opponent hitters average just .231 against the Golden Hurricane and have struck out 160 times. Samantha Pochop tops the roster with 67 strikeouts from the circle.
