Women's Basketball Big Easy-Bound for Conference Clash

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's basketball team hits the road this weekend for a clash in the Big Easy against Tulane Saturday afternoon. Tip time against the Green Wave is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Avron B. Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse and will broadcast on ESPN3.

Memphis looks to garner conference win number one after suffering a tough setback to Cincinnati at home on Wednesday evening. Junior forward Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu posted a career-high 22 points to go along with a nine-rebound performance before fouling out of the game in the fourth quarter.
Keke Hunter posted her third double-double of the season against Cincinnati with 14 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
Freshman guard Madison Griggs continued to inch closer to setting the new mark for the most three-pointers made by a freshman in program history. Her current mark of 44 this season is just three shy of tying LaTonya Johnson's total set during the 1994-95 season. Griggs leads the conference in made three-pointers and is one of just two players to have hit 40 this season.
Tulane is another program in the American Athletic Conference that Memphis has a long-standing rivalry with. Saturday marks the 50th all-time meeting between the two teams with Memphis holding a 29-21 advantage in the series.
The Tigers won the last meeting against Tulane on the road by a score of 65-59. Memphis has won four out of the last six meetings against the Green Wave.
A Look at Tulane
Tulane enters Saturday's game with a 7-8 overall record and a perfect 2-0 start to the American Athletic Conference slate. The Green Wave are riding a three-game winning streak, including wins at Wichita State and against Tulsa to open conference play.
Wednesday's victory against Tulsa was won on a buzzer-beater in overtime by Krystal Freeman. Freeman leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 14.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. She is one of two players to average in double figures for the Green Wave.
Tulane is home of the conference's second-leading blocker in Mia Heide. Heide has recorded 32 blocks this season at 2.1 per game.
Offensively, Tulane averages 61.7 points per game while shooting 39.4 percent from the field. The Green Wave struggle from the charity stripe, hitting a conference-low 55.6 percent.
Lisa Stockton is the head coach of Tulane and is currently in her 26th season at the helm. Current Memphis associate head coach Michele Savage spent nine years on Stockton's staff at Tulane. In her time in New Orleans, Stockton has compiled over 500 wins.
