The Tigers head to Orlando to face off with the Knights, who were picked to finish second in the AAC behind ECU in the AAC Pre-Season poll. UCF has had an up and down season thus far, with some elite non-conference wins but also some bad non-conference series losses. On the winning side, UCF took two of three games at then No. 1 Ole Miss. On the opposite end, the Knights lost non-conference series to FAU, Liberty, and Troy. In conference play, UCF split with USF on the road, split with Cincinnati, won three of four at home vs. USF, and most recently split on the road vs. ECU.
Memphis and UCF have met 46 times since 2006 with each team picking up 23 wins. Recently, UCF has dominated the series, as the Knights have won 13 of the last 18 meetings with the Tigers. Memphis' last series win vs. UCF came at FedExPark in 2013.
UCF sits in the top half of the AAC in most offensive categories. The Knights rank third in runs scored (237), home runs (43), and OBP (.376). While UCF doesn't have a single starter hitting over .300, three regulars are hitting at least .280. The Knights have three players in the top 10 in the conference in home runs, as Ben McCabe is tied for second with 10, while Jordan Rathbone and Josh Crouch are tied for sixth with eight home runs each. McCabe leads the conference in RBIs (41) with Rathbone tied for third (32).
The Knights have one of the top pitchers in the conference in Colton Gordon, but he isn't slated to start this weekend vs. Memphis. Gordon is 5-1 with a 2.91 ERA over eight starts this season. Along with the fifth best ERA among qualified pitchers in the AAC, Gordon is third in strikeouts (62).
All four games in Orlando will be available on ESPN+, while fans can also follow along at www.memphisstats.com.
