Tigers Open American Athletic Conference Play Against Tulsa

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's basketball team will open the American Athletic Conference portion of its schedule when the Tigers host Tulsa on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. with coverage available on ESPN+.
Memphis (4-7) has not played since December 17 when the Tigers fell 81-63 behind 24 points from Madison Griggs. While Griggs led the team on the offensive end, Alasia Smith continued to dominate on the boards with 15 rebounds, eight of which coming on the offensive end.
For the season, Griggs and Kai Carter lead the team with 17.0 and 12.3 points per game, respectively, while Smith has controlled the rebounds for Memphis with 88 total boards.
The Tigers currently rank in the top-15 in Division I in offensive rebounds per game with an average of 16.8, ranking as the second-best offensive rebounding team in the AAC.
Tulsa (10-3) is currently riding a five-game win streak that was extended after the Golden Hurricane picked up two wins in the Maui Classic. Tulsa ran through Texas Tech with a 66-58 victory to open the tournament while claiming a 48-47 win over Southeastern Louisiana.
Delanie Crawford picked up a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds while the team held SE Louisiana to just nine points in the final 10 minutes of play.
Last season when Memphis and Tulsa met, a 29-point third quarter from the Tigers pushed them to the 69-44 win behind 23 forced turnovers from the Golden Hurricane.
