Tigers Host USF in Conference Home Opener

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Tigers will host USF in their conference home opener Saturday, Sept. 23 through Sunday, Sept. 24. Memphis (4-9, 0-1) looks to get back in the win column and nail down its first conference win after falling in three straight sets to SMU on Sept. 20.
USF (7-5, 1-0) defeated Tulane in five sets in the opening match of conference play, keeping the Bulls on a four-match win streak coming into their series against Memphis. Three Bulls have recorded over 100 kills this season, Buse Hazen (138), Maria Clara Andrade (128) and Amanda DeWitt (110). USF is averaging 12.07 kills per set and are hitting .217. Lia Schneider leads defensively averaging 3.58 digs per set with Caroline Dykes following averaging 2.38 digs per set.
Memphis opened conference play against SMU, falling in three straight sets to the Mustangs. The Tigers are averaging 11.7 kills per set and a .169 clip. Freshman Autumn Flynn has hit over .400 in each of the past three matches for the Tigers and Tabytha Toelke leads the team in kills with 106 on the season. Rylee Busse currently leads the Tigers with 16 aces through five weeks of play. Abigail Schlueter leads Memphis with 3.60 digs per set with Loren Robertson at 2.73 and Toelke at 2.63. Clara Bednarek tops the Tigers with 34.0 blocks so far this season.
