
No. 13 Tigers Take Down No. 19 Skyhawks

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 13-ranked University of Memphis rifle team earned its first victory of the season against No. 19 UT Martin, 4694-4629, Saturday at the R.F. Fogelman Rifle Range.
The Tigers (1-4) won smallbore, 2325-2287, before beating the Skyhawks (0-4) in air rifle, 2369-2342.
"We're happy with today's win against UT Martin," head coach Morgan Phillips said. "We had some standout individual performances in Gabriela, Kenlee, and Katrina. They continue to be solid and consistent for us.
"There is still plenty of room for growth for us and we know what we need to work on. I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do with a couple solid weeks of practice under us before we face Akron at home on November 9th."

- Gabriela Zych was outstanding for Memphis on Saturday, placing first overall in the individual standings with an aggregate score of 1182.
- Zych was the top finisher in both smallbore (585) and air rifle (597).
- Katrina Demerle and Kenlee Ewton each finished with an aggregate of 1176 to place second and third, respectively.
- Demerle posted scores of 585 in smallbore and 591 in air rifle, while Ewton turned in a 581 and 595.
- Jack Kersey took fifth individually with an aggregate total of 1160 behind totals of 574 in smallbore and 586 in air rifle.
