
Tigers Ranked No. 10 in Preseason CRCA Poll

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis rifle team has been ranked No. 10 in the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) preseason poll released on Monday.
The Tigers are coming off a fourth-place finish in the Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) and return CRCA All-American Gabriela Zych this season, along with a strong cast of returners and three newcomers.
Zych had one of the best individual seasons in program history last season, leading the team with averages of 586.786 in smallbore, 595.357 in air rifle and 1182.143 in aggregate.
Over the course of the season, she set program records in both smallbore and aggregate and tied the school mark in air rifle. Zych also earned berths to compete in both smallbore and air rifle at the 2024 NCAA Rifle Championships.
Head coach Morgan Phillips guided the Tigers to a ranking as high as No. 8 last season after earning wins over No. 7 Ohio State, No. 7 Ole Miss, No. 9 Murray State and No. 13 Navy.
The team also matched the program record in smallbore (2341) at the GARC Championships.
Memphis will open the season at home against Nebraska on Saturday, Oct. 5.
