Nov 10, 2025 | Women's Basketball
MOBILE, Ala. – Memphis women's basketball will head to Mobile, Alabama, for a Tuesday night contest with South Alabama at 7:00 p.m. before returning home to host Ball State on Saturday, November 15, at 2:00 p.m.
Both games will be broadcast on ESPN+. The Tigers (1-1) split the opening two games of the 2025-26 season, falling 69-64 to Arkansas-Pine Bluff before bouncing back to defeat Little Rock, 64-62, on the road. Chaé Harris leads the team with 16 points per game, and Daejah Richmond is second in scoring with 15 to go with four rebounds, 3.5 assists and two blocks per contest.
Game One: South Alabama
Memphis' second consecutive road game will be in the Port City, a place the Tigers haven't played since Dec. 9, 2009. Memphis and South Alabama have played just three times ever, the most recently being a 55-50 win for the Tigers in Mobile. The Jaguars lead the series, 2-1, thanks to victories in 2008 and 1990.
South Alabama (2-0) have gotten off to a flying start, most recently beating fellow American Conference member UAB, 91-68, in Birmingham. Fueled by transfers making a big leap into the Sun Belt, the Jaguars have the 45th-best scoring offense in the country with 89 points per game. Portal additions Cordasia Harris (Alabama State) and Amyah Sutton (New Mexico JC) lead the way with 17.5 and 16 points per game, respectively.
Yolisha Jackson began her third year at the helm of South Alabama, where she spent seven years as an assistant before taking an assistant coaching role at South Florida from 2020 to 2023. The Clarksville, Tennessee, native returned seven players to her 2025-26 South Alabama squad.
Game Two: Ball State
Memphis will return home for the first of four consecutive home games, beginning with Ball State. The second half of a home-and-home series, the Cardinals won in Muncie, 95-66, early last season. The only other time these teams played was in the 2022-23 WNIT Round of 32, which the Tigers won, 79-62, in Elma Roane Fieldhouse.
An NCAA Tournament team in 2024-25, Ball State has opened this season with two wins against Arkansas State and IU-Indy. They will look to make it three in a row on Wednesday, November 12, against Northern Kentucky before heading to Memphis. They lead the country in rebounds per game with 45 and have a rebounding margin of +13, led by Gonzaga transfer Bree Salenbien, who has 24 through two games.
Brady Sallee is in his 14th season with the Cardinals, coming off a historic 2024-25 that saw them win their second MAC tournament championship in program history behind a 16-2 record and his eighth 20-win season in Muncie.
