Nov 07, 2025 | Women's Basketball
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Memphis guard Chaé Harris connected on a corner three with 13 seconds remaining to seal the Tigers' first win of the season, a 64-62 thriller in their road opener against Little Rock.
Memphis (1-1) trailed for 27 consecutive minutes at the Joe Stephens Center, falling behind by as much as 12 before rallying in the fourth quarter, winning the final frame 18-7. Harris had 13 points, and Daejah Richmond led the way with 16 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Trailing 55-46 entering the fourth quarter, the Tigers opened the period with a 7-0 run thanks to a long ball from Brooklyn Alexander and a pair of buckets from Richmond and Paris Gaines. The Trojans (1-1) scored at the 7:22 mark before enduring a near-five-minute drought as the visitors forced four turnovers and grabbed a 61-57 lead.
Just as Memphis took control, Little Rock's Alaina Payne converted an and-one at the rim, and the Trojans reclaimed the lead, 62-61, with 19 seconds left at the free-throw line. Following a timeout, head coach Alex Simmons designed a dribble hand-off to get Richmond downhill, who drew the help and found Harris in the strong-side corner for the win.
The Tigers had to overcome a rough start offensively, as the first quarter saw them turn it over nine times and go three minutes without scoring as Little Rock established a 17-9 lead. The offense would clean up, losing it just six times and shooting 46.1% from the field across the final three quarters. The Tiger defense held Little Rock to 39% shooting and forced 20 turnovers, scoring 20 points off of them.
Kennedi Alexander had seven points and seven rebounds, including three on the offensive glass, and Cori Allen added seven points and six more rebounds from the guard position.
The Tigers will be back on the road this Tuesday, November 11, to take on South Alabama in Mobile at 7:00 p.m.
