Tigers Set for Monday Morning Road Test at Murray State
Dec 14, 2025 | Women's Basketball
MURRAY, Ky. – Memphis women's basketball is back on the road for a Monday morning contest at Murray State. The game will tip-off at 11 a.m. and stream on ESPN+.
The Tigers (4-6) are looking to get back to winning ways following a third consecutive loss away from Elma Roane Fieldhouse. They fell at Middle Tennessee, 60-51, on Sunday, December 7, despite a season-high 14 from Jordan Hunter. Chaé Harris leads the team and ranks second in the conference with 15.7 points per game.
Reversing its fortune will be no easy task for Memphis, as they will battle the Racers (7-2) in their own arena, where they are 24-6 since the 2023-24 season and 2-0 this year. It's the Tigers' first trip to Murray since Dec. 20, 1992. The last three matchups in 1993, 2010 and 2024 were all at Elma Roane Fieldhouse, with Murray State winning the most recent two. Last season, the game was tied after three quarters before the Racers pulled away late to win, 87-83.
The 2024-25 regular season and MVC Tournament champions, Murray State is off to another flying start behind returning guard Haven Ford and Indiana transfer Sharnecce Currie-Jelks. The latter ranks 13th nationally in points (21.7) and rebounds (10.8). As a team, they lead the nation in free throws made per game, shooting 83.4% on 27.4 attempts per contest.
Rechelle Turner is in her ninth season as the head coach of the Racers after her most successful season to date in 2024-25. A staple of the local basketball scene, Turner spent 21 seasons as the head coach of Murray High School, where she won 460 games and 13 region championships.
