MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis senior Vincent Chenier shattered his own school record in the Men's 3000-meter race at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational, running a time of 8:08.32 to beat his previous mark by over four seconds.
The senior was far from the only highlight of Memphis track and field's third indoor meet of the season, as 11 total PRs were collected including two by Chenier (3000-meter and mile). Sophomore Courtland Noble was another standout, running the best time in the conference this season in both the men's 200-meter (21.14) and 400-meter (47.23). Ivory Davis also had her best-ever races in both the 60-meter (7.81) and 60-meter hurdles (8.46), and Jadaja Baxter finished fifth in the women's 200-meter (24.31) and sixth in the 60-meter (7.47).
"We walked out with some solid performances. Not as many as I would have originally expected, but we were ravaged by the flu and other illnesses this week," said head coach Kevin Robinson. "Courtland had a breakthrough meeting, and Ivory and Jadaja stepped up as well. Vincent ran a couple of great races and continues to close in on that sub 4:00 mile. I am excited to get my full team back in action over the next two weeks."
A full breakdown of all results can be found at the top. The Tigers will be in Birmingham, Alabama, next week to compete in the UAB Open Invite on Friday, Feb. 7, and Saturday, Feb. 8.
