Four Tigers Collect Event Victories, 18 Finish Top Five at UAB Invites

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Memphis track and field completed two one-day meets at UAB's campus over the weekend, with Natalie Albert, Joycelyn Crum, Oageng Mdlela and Poorna Raorane picking up victories.
Albert won the women's weight throw in both Friday's Vulcan Invite and Saturday's Green and Gold Invite, notching a personal-best 18.26-meter throw in the process. Raorane also won both women's shot-put events on the weekend; Crum (women's pole vault) and Mdlela (men's triple jump) won their respective competitions at the Vulcan Invite.
In addition to the Tigers' six victories, 10 top-three finishes were logged and eight more finished inside the top five. Trinity Brown (women's long jump), Jazmyn James (women's shot put), Bryce Ravenell (men's long jump), Riley Simmons (women's weight throw), Oliver Tomann (men's weight throw) and the 4x400-meter relay team of Kameron Scille, Dejona Simpson, Leah Howard and Judy Elful each took silver. Nine Tigers also earned personal bests on the weekend.
