Memphis Softball Set for Midweek Contest at North Alabama

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis softball (9-6) travels to North Alabama (10-3) for a midweek game against the Lions Wednesday at 3 p.m.
The Tigers look to rebound after only earning one victory in the I-75 Challenge, while North Alabama most recently went 1-3 in the Rocket City Showcase, with all three losses coming against strong programs from the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis comes in to the midweek matchup after most recently playing in the I-75 Challenge. With one game canceled due to electrical issues, the Tigers played four games. The Tigers earned a victory over Georgia State, but fell to the Panthers in the second game of a doubleheader, along with losses to Kennesaw State and No. 24 Kentucky earlier in the weekend.
Kennedy Semien had been the leader of the Tigers offense after 15 games. She currently leads Memphis in batting average (.465), hits (20), runs (14) and is tied for the team lead in doubles (5) and RBIs (14). Neely Taylor has also stepped up to create a strong tandem with Semien at the top of the lineup. Taylor has 18 hits and holds a .419 batting average. She also has six extra-base hits (four doubles, one triple, one home run), tied for third on the team, and is also the only Tiger to have started in all 15 games.
Taniyah Brown and Zoe Adebayo have been consistent power hitters in the heart of the Memphis order. The pair are currently tied for the team lead in extra-base hits with seven, with Adebayo having two doubles, two triples and three home runs, while Brown has hit five doubles and two home runs. Adebayo is also tied with Kennedy Semien for the team lead in RBIs with 14.
Rylee Dugar has been a leader of the Memphis pitching staff thus far. She currently stands at four wins with a 2.60 ERA and 28 strikeouts in the circle. Taniyah Brown has also been a strong contributor in the circle, leading Memphis in innings pitched with 39 and holding a 2.87 ERA with 24 strikeouts thrown.

North Alabama enters Wednesday's game after similar results to Memphis over the weekend, while keeping games close against strong competition. The Lions faced off against Ole Miss, ETSU, No. 17 Auburn and No. 16 Mississippi State in the Rocket City Showcase. Despite falling to the three SEC schools, North Alabama only allowed to runs against No. 17 Auburn and played No. 16 Mississippi State to a 6-2 final.
Offensively, the Lions are led by the duo of Briley Dover and Hailey Jones. The pair have combined for 39 hits, 11 doubles, four triples, four home runs and 31 RBIs. Jones's seven doubles currently rank 9th in the NCAA. North Alabama has also been benefited by consistency in the lineup, as six players have started in all 13 games.
In the circle, North Alabama has a strong staff that is currently 20th nationally in ERA, only allowing 1.94 earned runs per game. In the circle, the Lions are led by Alivia Wilken and the Simon sisters, Katie and Emily. Wilken has pitched the majority of the innings, tallying 37 strikeouts over 39.2 innings pitched to a 5-1 record. Katie Simon has pitched two complete games, earning victories in both while carrying a 2.15 ERA. Emily Simon leads North Alabama in ERA with a 1.43, holding opposing hitters to a .143 batting average.
