T&F Meet Six: AAC Indoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Memphis track and field wraps up the indoor season this Friday and Saturday, traveling to Birmingham to compete in the American Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships from February 28 to March 1.
The Tigers have spent their previous two competitions in Birmingham, most recently tallying eight wins, 22 top-four finishes and 20 personal bests at the Bulldog Invite. Between both the men's and women's teams, 30 performances rank inside the conference's top 10, highlighted by seven top-three finishes.
Sascha Salesius Schmidt holds the second-furthest shot put (18.27m) and will look to place for the second consecutive year. Jazmyn James also holds the second-best shot put (15.49m) in the conference, as does distance runner Vincent Chenier in the mile (4:00.01). Oageng Mdlela (men's triple jump, 15.50m), Courtland Noble (men's 400m, 47.23), Poorna Raorane (women's shot put, 15.45m) and the 4x400 relay team of Prior Ochonogor, Kouto Anyika, Bryson Wilson and Noble (3:09.21) all sit third among the conference's best.
