Tigers Welcome Middle Tennessee for Midweek Matchup

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis Tigers softball (14-18, 3-6 AAC) will play host to Middle Tennessee (13-19, 3-6 CUSA) on Wednesday at 5 p.m. for its Salute to Service game.
The non-conference matchup will be broadcast on ESPN+, with Tyler Springs on the call.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis looks to regain momentum after falling in a sweep to North Texas this past weekend.
Neely Taylor emerged from the weekend as Memphis' leading hitter after recording two multi-hit performances against the Mean Green and scoring three runs. She currently leads the Tigers in batting average (.385), hits (37) and is second on the team in OPS (.975).
Zoe Adebayo continues to be the Tigers' best power bat in the lineup, currently leading the team in triples (3), home runs (5), RBI (26) and OPS (1.151). She is tied with Kennedy Semien for second in walks with 18. Semien is the third member of the trio of Tigers hitting above the .350 mark. She also leads the Tigers in runs scored (27) and is tied with Adebayo for the team lead in doubles with eight.
Memphis' pitching staff has faced challenges in its most recent contests. Rylee Dugar and Taniyah Brown lead the staff in ERA, as both hold a 4.15 average. Dugar leads the staff in wins (5), innings pitched (60.2) and strikeouts (41).
In recent outings, the Tigers have turned to freshmen Lyrical Bennett and Jericho Tate in the circle. The pair have combined for 87.1 innings in the circle, with Bennett throwing 50.2 innings and Tate recording 25 strikeouts.

Middle Tennessee also enters the contest after being swept in a conference series, having lost three games to Louisiana Tech in its most recent series.
The leader of the Blue Raider offense is Jana Want. The freshman holds a .387 batting average with 36 hits, 19 runs scored, 24 RBI and six doubles, all of which lead the team in their respective categories. Ansley Blevins also holds an average above .300, and she and Want each have an OPS above 1.000. Blevins leads Middle Tennessee in home runs with eight.
In the circle, Middle Tennessee has primarily relied on the arms of Leila Ammon and Tori Coffman. Ammons has the lower ERA (2.81) of the pair and has struck out 50 batters in 72.1 innings. Coffman holds a 3.74 ERA with six wins this season, also recording six complete games in 67.1 innings of work.

Memphis holds an 8-3 record in the all-time series against the Blue Raiders. The two programs have not faced off since the 2016 season when Middle Tennessee earned an 11-2 victory in the FGCU Kickoff Classic in Fort Myers, Fla.
