KENNESAW, Ga. – The Memphis men's 4x400 relay team of Bryson Wilson, Jacari Simpson, Kouto Anyika and Courtland Noble capped off the Don McGarey Invitational with a 3:07.92 victory, the seventh-fastest time in Division I this outdoor season.
The relay team was one of five event victories for the Tigers at Kennesaw State on the weekend. Noble also took gold in the men's 400 meters with a personal-best 47.02 time, and Jazmyn James won the shot put for the second consecutive weekend. Gabriel Koletsi and Maddie Roberts each won their respective javelin events – with Roberts recording a PR 49.45-meter throw – and Sascha Salesius Schmidt took his fifth victory of the year in the men's shot put.
Memphis also recorded 11 top-three finishes, including Judy Elful who finished second in the women's 400-meter hurdles by .01 seconds with a personal-best 1:00.64. While a majority of the Tigers were in Georgia, four distance runners logged personal-bests at the WashU Distance Carnival in St. Louis, as Vincent Chenier (5,000 meters – 14:03.59), Kenny Guy (10,000 meters – 30:47.44), Robert Arnold (5,000 meters – 15:14.65) and Jalyssa Smith (10,000 meters - 38:55.60) each had career days.
