Tigers Set to Host Mississippi State at FedExPark Tuesday Night

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis baseball team is set to host Mississippi State at FedExPark Avron Fogelman Field on Tuesday night with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Jeff Brightwell and Greg Gaston Sr. on the call.
Fans attending are encouraged to wear black. The first 500 fans through the gates will receive a black Memphis-branded rally towel, sponsored by Pepsi. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early as free parking lots will fill up quickly. As a reminder for fans, cars parked on streets will be towed.
FedExPark will play host to the 52nd meeting between the two programs since 1978, with the Bulldogs leading the series, 38-13. Mississippi State is riding a four-game win streak over the Tigers dating back to 2019. Memphis last defeated the Bulldogs, 6-1, at AutoZone Park in Memphis on April 18, 2018.
Memphis (11-16, 0-6 AAC) is coming off its second weekend of American Athletic Conference action where the Tigers dropped three games to Charlotte at FedExPark. The Tigers will aim to get back in the win column and snap a losing skid Tuesday night.
RHP Caden Robinson (1-2, 6.75 ERA, 18 K) will make his seventh start of the season vs. the Bulldogs. Mississippi State will counter with DH/RHP Noah Sullivan (8 IP, 0.00 ERA, 7 K, 1 BB), who also leads the team with a .363 batting average to go along with four home runs and 22 RBI.
Mississippi State (16-12, 1-8 SEC) is aiming to snap a three-game skid after being swept by No. 8 LSU over the weekend in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Bulldogs are 1-6 this season in true road contests and 4-8 in a dozen total games away from home.
The Bulldogs are offensively by Sullivan (.363 AVG. / 4 HR / 22 RBI), Nolan Stevens (.357 AVG. / 4 HR / 14 RBI) and Aaron Downs (.310 AVG. / 7 HR / 18 RBI).
Tiger catcher Jonah Sutton tied for second nationally in runners thrown out from behind the plate (14). Sutton is one of four catchers nationally to have thrown out 14-plus runners and is now 14-of-31 (45%) from behind the dish.
After ranking 12th nationally with 54 double plays turned a season ago, the Tigers have turned 23 through the season's first 27 games and rank 34th nationally in that category.
The Memphis pitching staff has been another highlight through the first half of the season, combining for a 4.62 ERA (233.2 IP) to rank third in The American and 54th nationally. The Tiger bullpen has accounted for 123.0 of those innings and has given up 60 earned runs for a bullpen ERA of 4.39.
